It's difficult for the Australian squad to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have already been conquered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a side that has won it all.

That it took until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, in truth, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over five decades.

It's difficult for their batters to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

In the end, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was captain Alyssa Healy getting a platform to create her newest gem.

Initially recognized as the teenage relative of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her nation didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has seen it all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win happened three months after her first appearance and seven global championships have come from 10 efforts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the successful run.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What is certain is this hundred was far harder to anticipate.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 happened while she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India over the past few weeks in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in practice sessions, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared my form was missing at all," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit activate and you completely engage with the match."

Healy's competitiveness has continuously been her major advantage - and a priceless quality in replacing famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, dismissed by the emerging pace bowler in each encounter, but here that only provided Healy's inspiration.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and just have a bit of fun that way, kind of motivated me," said Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

When she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is uncharted waters so I'm pleased we have the belief to accomplish that now," continued Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to repeat it but, if we do, we know we can do it."

These statements will be the last rival teams at this championship should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has grown stronger - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they left the prior year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a game Healy missed because of damaged tissue in her foot as she led her country for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is hasn't yet secured an international tournament as captain.

Victory in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
